Requirements Registered as a medical professional with the Health Professions Council of SA
A minimum of 5-8 years’ relevant clinical experience in a hospital environment Comprehensive experience with quality improvement processes together with a strong preference for maintaining and improving clinical quality standards
Demonstrate an understanding of the multi-disciplinary clinical environment, systems and related processes
Good knowledge and understanding of legislation impacting healthcare and the industry in general
Strong leadership abilities together with a preference to relate and network with relevant stakeholders
Strong financial acumen and intermediate computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office suites
The ability to persuade and influence peers, clinical colleagues and independent practitioners to focus on patient safety and centricity, and change behaviour where required
The ability to analyse and interpret information and propose clinical interventions and improvements that will add value to the patient experience
A strong preference for working with people and delivering on client expectations
A proven record of crisis and conflict management
Relevant exposure to people management processes like performance management and employee relations will be an advantage
A strong ability to lead a team and promote teamwork across functional and organisational boundaries
Key Outputs Provide leadership to clinical and allied healthcare providers on standards of clinical practice, quality assurance and key performance areas

Integrate and improve overall clinical services in the hospital by collaborating with various clinicians, both internal and external to the company
Formulate and implement clinical strategy for the hospital in support of patient safety
Implement clinical quality management programs
Ensure compliance with all people management policies and procedures
Assume accountability for clinical governance matters relating to patient safety, quality care, infection prevention and control and adverse events
Ensure the quality of clinical information is accurate and of a high standard to enable quality clinical coding information
Ensure financial and efficiency management of the clinical department’s budget
Participate in and take responsibility for clinical risk management that includes audits, program implementations, addressing unwanted conduct, pro-active identification of patient safety measures etc.
Responsible for the investigation of all clinical complaints and preparing feedback based on investigation as per standard policy
